Wilson The 12th Pony's mission is to help children, adults and seniors with special needs improve their physical and emotional well-being through one-on-one interaction with him and his precious girlfriend named Tinkerbelle. Through equine therapy, participants can improve general quality of life:
Reduce depression, through the release of dopamine and serotonin in the brain.
Stronger connections to the physical world, as well as to other people.
A decrease in loneliness, boredom, and increased independence.
An increase in muscle strength, joint mobility, and balance, as well as coordination.
Improved perceptual, social and communication skills.
Lower stress, blood pressure, and heart rate.
Wilson and his darling girlfriend Tinkerbelle are both professionally trained and specially licensed therapy ponies/miniature horses. They have natural incredibly sweet, kind and gentle demeanors, and have also received the same kind of training as mounted police horses. They are calm and professional in every environment, inside and out. They comfortably ride in elevators, climb up and down stairs and safely work around medical equipment, cords, wheelchairs, walkers, beds and extremely fragile children and seniors. They are both potty trained, and have special shoes to wear (when needed) for slippery floors.
It is inspiring to watch the magical, life-touching and comforting effects they have on everyone, young or old. They light up the room when they enter, and leave an unforgettable impression on people's hearts and souls long after they have gone. They have brought many tears of joy and happiness to the friends they visit, and to the people that witness the healing and life touching effect they have as angel therapy ponies.....
Wilson and Tinkerbelle visit hundreds of special people every year... To bring joy and happiness into lives that benefit from the comforting and healing powers from touching and seeing them.
They are available for personal visits (individually or together), for private in-home therapy sessions, or to visit hospitals, assisted living centers, hospice programs, rehabilitation facilities, schools, daycare centers and anywhere else they can help bring a smile to someone's face and brighten their day.
